About the Artist
Walter Valentin Eres was born in 1947 in Zalsburg, Austria, and is now a resident of Paterson, NJ. He is both visual artist and musician, with over 45 years of experience in painting landscapes and portraits.
In his first year in the United States at the age of 13, he won the Lathaim Foundation Award for first prize in their International Poster Contest which represented four countries and 30,000 entries. He was the recipient of the W.S.O.A.E. Scholarship to New York University for his "Still Life with Onions."
He was trained under Moses Soyer at the Brooklyn Museum and under Raymond Breinin in the National Academy of New York City.
He has decided that focusing on the painting of pets, especially cats and dogs, shall be the next great challenge of his career.
